[[back->beginning]]More than 40,000 civilians were killed, almost half in the capital, and more than a million houses were destroyed.
It is considered a German strategic failure. The bombings didn't demoralise the British into surrendering, or damage to war production. Cities usually took 10 to 15 days to recover when hit, except Birmingham, which took 3 months.

[[back->beginning]]The attack against London marked the beginning of the German bomber offensive against Britain. It disrupted production, transport and reduced food supplies. The biggest thing the bombings achieved was how the British were unable to make 2,500 aircraft in a month that was originally planned. The British population took three weeks to recover from the effects of an attack. It did not reduce moral, as the Germans originally planned, though.
